Nokia to cut jobs at their San Diego unit
Mobile phone maker Nokia has said in a statement that they would be cutting halve its San Diego, California labor force of 1,100 workers.
This comes after the company recently announced their decision to stop making phones with Qualcomm patented technology.
The two companies Nokia and Qualcomm have been tangled in legal battles since many years now. Qualcomm holds the patent for Code Division Multiple Access or CDMA and Nokia has been complaining that the company overcharges for its CDMA patents.
Nokia further announced in June that it would no longer make phones using this technology.
Now they would be shifting their focus at their San Diego unit to develop phones powered with GSM technologies in addition to other next generation technologies.
