VoIP user base increasing at a rapid pace in USA

Research firm TeleGeography has come out with a research paper and they are claiming that U.S. subscribers to VoIP services grew 21 percent to 6.9 million in the second quarter.

The market showed a growth due to growing subscribers to VoIP services powered by cable TV companies. Vonage and other VoIP companies failed to see much growth in their subscriber base.

The latest figures represent a 153 percent increase compared with mid-2005. However looking at the quarterly results, the growth is slower than the first quarter of the current year.

The research company added that VoIP revenues for the second quarter were up 173 percent at $607 million across the United States.
