DaimlerChrysler to make buses in India
DaimlerChrysler is reported to be talking with Indian company Sutlej Motors to make its luxury buses for the Indian market.
In fact, Sutlej Motors is already expected to roll out a ‘significant’ number of buses by year-end or early next year.
The news source claimed: “They found (India) an attractive market and we have signed an agreement with them.”
It also quoted a spokesman for the world’s fifth-biggest carmaker: “We (are) currently doing a feasibility study… there is an option that we may have local partners to make the body or chassis. We definitely will not be rolling out any buses this year and cannot give an exact time frame for this.”
The Indian market of commercial vehicles is dominated by two players Tata Motors Ltd. and Ashok Leyland Ltd.
