Symbian claims they are now profitable
UK based mobile platform software developers Symbian has said that they are finally profitable after years of making losses.
The company added that the shipments of handsets running its software rose 58 percent in the second quarter.
Symbian develop applications, which let the mobile phone owners to take photos, browse the Internet and play digital music. Competitors include the mighty Microsoft who has their own Windows Media platform.
Company Chief Executive Nigel Clifford spoke on their performance: \”You\’re right to assume we\’re in the black. Our cost base is largely fixed, so we\’re fixated on growing the volumes. We\’re now in a position where we can forecast a stable position.”
The company’s main shareholders include big mobile phone companies including Nokia, Ericsson, Ericsson, Panasonic, Samsung and Siemens.
