Bajaj Auto to setup a plant to manufacture a new range of three and four wheelers
India’s leading two wheeler manufacturers Bajaj Auto has announced their plans to set up a Greenfield project at Chakan in Pune to make a new range of three and four wheelers.
For this project, the company has already signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra Government.
Bajaj would now be acquiring 250 acres at Chakan for setting up the plant. They plan to invest around Rs. 1,750 crore in the plant and an additional Rs. 250 crore will be invested by the vendors in the existing facilities for supplying components to the new plant.
This new initiative is expected to generate employment for around 1000 workers in the region. The production is expected to begin in 2009.
