Ford production cut to result in job cuts at Navistar International
US based makers of diesel engines Navistar International has said in a statement that they might have to cut as many as 400 jobs as a result of Ford announcing that they are cutting their productions by around 20%.
Ford is one of their biggest customers and is going through a bad phase. Customers in the US market are increasingly preferring to buy Japanese cars and this has resulted in big losses for the American automakers.
Navistar said that 380 unionized workers at its Indianapolis, Indiana, engine assembly plant would be idled beginning October 2. The company manufactures the 6.0-liter V-8 diesel engine that powers Ford’s F-Series Super Duty pickup.
