Proton collaborates with Mitsubishi
Malaysian carmaker Proton have announced that they are collaborating with Japan’s Mitsubishi Motors as both the automakers are trying hard to recover from massive losses and get back to profitability.
These two companies would now be working together on developing new car models together in collaboration. They are expected to start working together by early next year as the two companies signed on a deal on Friday.
In fact, the deal might result in Proton assembling cars under the Mitsubishi marquee for the Southeast Asian market. Proton chief Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Tahir said in a statement: “We are looking at some new-generation cars.”
This deal is expected to give Mitsubishi a chance to expand their market base in the Malaysian market. They are surprisingly the only major Japanese automaker to be making losses in the various markets around the world. Other companies like Nissan, Honda, and Toyota are doing awesomely great.
Mitsubishi President Osamu Masuko added his opinion about this new deal: “This alliance will help enlarge our presence in ASEAN countries.”
