RadioShack dismisses 400 workers through e-mail notices
RadioShack Corp. fired as many as 400 of their workers and notified them through email messages. The email informed the employees that they were being dismissed immediately as part of planned job cuts.
The exact message delivered to these 400 workers was: “The work force reduction notification is currently in progress. Unfortunately your position is one that has been eliminated.”
They were however invited to ask questions before this notification on a company intranet site. Analysts believe that this method of terminated employees could be seen as dehumanizing to employees.
RadioShack added in a release that the fired workers would get one to three weeks pay for each year of service. This would be up to 16 weeks for hourly employees and 36 weeks for those with base bay of at least $90,000.
