Fiat might develop cars in partnership with TATA

Italy based automaker Fiat is considering to expand their partnership with Tata Motors of India.

The two companies might now develop a car together. Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne said in a statement on such a possibility: “It will be in the short term as they have already done most of the work.”

Fiat and Tata are already collaborating together with the creation of a joint venture to build cars, engines and transmissions for India and possibly other markets.

They are also already sharing their dealer network in the Indian market. Tata on their part are working hard on their Rs. 1 lakh car, which is due to come out in the market by 2008.
