Wal-Mart to sponsor ESPN Monday Night Football

Wal-Mart is the world’s leading retailing company and they have now announced their decision to sponsor ESPN Monday Night Football.

The company had recently revamped its advertising and is trying to look trendier with their approach to attract customers.

Wal-Mart has now signed a new multimedia marketing agreement with ESPN to promote Wal-Mart’s high-definition televisions (HDTV) during Monday Night Football. The season is due to begin this September 11.

The deal covers the 2006-2007 seasons though the financial details of the contract were not revealed to the media. Gary Severson, a Wal-Mart senior vice president and merchandise manager spoke on this new development: “We recognize that watching sports is the No. 1 driver of HDTV purchases, and believe this alliance with ESPN and Monday Night Football will help grow our entertainment business.”
