John Compton new chief executive of North American division for Pepsi

PepsiCo Inc. has announced their decision to reorganized its North American business. The company named John Compton to the new post of chief executive for the region.

He is currently the head of the Quaker Tropicana Gatorade division in the company.

This announcement comes just weeks after the company announced the appointment of Indra Nooyi as their new CEO. She replaced Steve Reinemund who retired last month.

Pepsi is now aiming to replicate the success in its overseas markets in the US division. And Compton would now oversee the North American unit’s three divisions, Pepsi-Cola North America, Quaker-Tropicana-Gatorade and Frito Lay North America.

He would be reporting directly to Nooyi. Nooyi said in a statement on this new appointment: “Managing these divisions together in a more holistic and integrated manner, like we’ve been doing at PepsiCo International for several years, has proven to be the right formula for growth.”
