Ford to get the Rover brand name from BMW
US based automobile giants Ford Motor has said that they would be exercising the right to buy the Rover brand name from German luxury carmaker BMW.
This was confirmed in a statement released by Ford’s Premier Automotive Group (PAG).
The company spokesperson said in a statement: “We feel it is in interests of our Land Rover business to have the Rover brand. We are acquiring it and we’re not looking to sell it. We believe it is a valuable asset for us.”
No financial details have been released on this news announcement. BMW also has not released any statement of their own.
Ford’s PAG group also owns the rights to Jaguar, Volvo and Aston Martin marquees.
