PVR Ltd. to expand into smaller cities in India
Operators of multiplex theaters in the Indian market PVR Ltd. has said that they would soon be launching budget cinema halls in Maharashtra later this month.
The company has plans to invest as much as Rs. 2 billion on further expansion into the smaller cities in the Indian market.
Chairman and Managing Director Ajay Bijli said in a statement on their plans: “Movie-going experience can be improved in the smaller towns. The appetite to watch movies is there and that’s where we see the growth potential.”
The company aims to launch PVR Talkies, a brand of budget cinema halls in smaller towns and cities in India.
The aim is to have 200 PVR Talkies spread across 70 cities in 13 states in the coming years. However, the company might also look at addressing the existing problems in their halls in Delhi.
