China to overtake Germany as the third largest maker of cars
China is all set to overtake Germany as the world’s third largest maker of cars and vans.
This information was revealed in a report of market research. The country is expected to turn out about 5.9 million light vehicles this year.
This would surpass the Germany’s 5.38 million figure released by the Polk Marketing Systems, a key car market research and consulting company based in the German city of Essen.
However, both China and Germany as still far behind the leaders in the market US and Japan. Market experts believe that China could touch the 10 million unit level in the next 10 years.
The study also estimated that the worldwide car and van production this year would reach a record of more than 64 million.
