Hyundai aims at making India their export hub for cars

South Korean automaker Hyundai has said in a statement that they are aiming to export 50 per cent of the cars it manufactures in India.

As of now, Hyundai India exports around a third of all locally manufactured cars to other countries.

The company has a production capacity of around 3,00,000 units per annum and is due to add another unit with similar capacity.

Company Managing Director Heung Soo Lheem said in a statement: “Once we start producing 6,00,000 cars per annum, our goal would be to export 50 per cent of the production, while the remaining would cater to domestic markets.”

Hyundai India itself accounts for more than half of all cars exported from the Indian market.
