Fujitsu recalling 287,000 Sony manufactured laptop batteries
Japanese company Fujitsu has now confirmed that they would be recalling 287,000 notebook PC batteries made by Sony Corp.
This has now increased the total number of recalls for Sony batteries to around 7.5 million units. Dell itself is recalling more than half of these units.
Some other companies involved in this mess are Apple Computer, Lenovo, IBM and Toshiba. Sony has admitted that these batteries can short-circuit on rare occasions resulting to overheating and possible fire.
All these recalls are expected to cost Sony millions of dollars. They are expected to come out with their latest estimated figures and its impact on their earnings soon.
