SanDisk to enter India with 2,000 partnered stores
SanDisk is one of the other major sellers of digital music players in the market dominated by Apple Computer.
They are also the world’s leading maker of flash memory data storage cards. SanDisk is now planning to open 2,000 stores with local partners in India in the near future.
The company said in a statement: “Our plans are to start with 2,000 stores in the coming weeks and increase to 14,000-plus by the end of 2007.”
SanDisk would be launching MP3 players, mobile phone cards, USB flash drives and high-end performance digital-imaging cards in 12 Indian cities initially.
Sanjay Mehrotra, president at SanDisk added: “India’s emergence as a technology leader and its rising per-capita income are creating opportunities for us in these categories.”
They are collaborating with Ingram Micro and Rashi Peripherals for this launch in the Indian market.
