Honda aiming at launching a fuel cell car in three to four years

Japanese auto manufacturer Honda is already competing with Toyota on the hybrid cars front. However, they are looking at the future and are aiming at launching a hydrogen-powered fuel cell car in the next three four years.

This would probably make them the first global automaker to launch such a car in the retail market for mass sales. Honda recently announced at the Detroit Motor Show that their showcased Honda FCX Concept vehicle resembled the car it would produce in three to four years time.

Most other automakers have a longer schedule to launch such a car in the retail market and Honda can lead the way for them to catch up to. The Honda FCX concept car displayed the capabilities Honda has achieved in this technology and the claim to launch a hydrogen-powered vehicle would make their competitors sit up and notice.

The company is also working on infrastructure for the hydrogen society with its Home Energy Station (HES). HES is a system designed to supply energy needs for the home and car. It would be equipped with the fuel cells that produce electricity for the home and recovering heat produced during power generation for water heating.
