Bajaj Auto closing in on Hero Honda in India

Pulsar and Discover continues to help Bajaj Auto close in on the market leaders Hero Honda in the Indian two-wheeler market.

Hero Honda has struggled with their new product launches in the recent past while Bajaj has been launching one hit after hit.

Bajaj now claims a market share of close to 38 per cent in motorcycles as of end September 2006.

The month of September saw total motorcycle sales of Bajaj Auto surged to 271,377 units as compared to 180,926 units in the same period last year.

Most of these vehicle sales were in the higher end segment where Bajaj continues to dominate other players in the market.

Bajaj Auto also announced their plans to launch a gearless scooter under the brand ‘Crystal’ in a few months to re-enter the scooter segment in India.
