CBS Television Stations to provide video news content to Yahoo!
CBS Television Stations has announced that they would now start providing local news video from 16 CBS-owned stations to Yahoo!
The two companies have signed on an exclusive video syndication agreement. This deal is the first such pact between a network television station and an Internet news provider.
CBS and Yahoo! would be sharing the revenues generated from advertising sold alongside the television content on the site.
This news coverage would include breaking news stories along with locally focused features and reports.
Doug Christopher, an analyst at Crowell, Weedon & Co. in Los Angeles spoke on this new development: “We are looking long term for Yahoo to be a dominate provider of content on the Internet. Yahoo is trying to move ahead with bolt-on Internet deals despite the share price perception.”
