SpiceJet places order for 10 Boeing planes

The phenomenal rise of the Indian aviation market continues. Indian airline companies have been some of the biggest customers for the two giants of the aircraft manufacturing industry, Boeing and Airbus.

The latest news coming in from the aviation market is that the Indian airline company SpiceJet has just placed an order for 10 planes with Boeing. These planes would be Boeing 737 and the market price of this order is close to an impressive $1.4 billion.

SpiceJet is based in New Delhi in India and the company started its operations in May 2005. The company said in a statement that the first order would include five 737-800 planes and five longer-range 737-900ER aircraft.

The deal is expected to be finalized later this year and would help SpiceJet in the competitive Indian market, which has seen a boom in the recent times with the entry of several budget airline companies like Air Deccan and GoAir.
