Mercedes Car Group sales in china impressive
Mercedes Car Group, a part of DaimlerChrysler sold around 16,400 cars in China and Hong Kong in the first nine months of 2006. This is an improvement of around 47% from a year earlier for the same period.
The sales of their Mercedes cars improved by around 58% year on year. The company added that they managed to maintain their leadership in the luxury segment with sales of over 6,470 units of their S Class car.
The sales of Chrysler Group’s imported vehicles in this market were up by 31% in the first nine months of the year compared to last year.
Till Becker, chief executive of DaimlerChrysler northeast Asia spoke on these improved performance: “We continue to see strong sales momentum in the region, led by high demand for our flagship products, like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and the Chrysler 300C. Local production of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class in Beijing, and the Chrysler Town & Country in Taiwan helped increase sales.”
