Apple Computer reports 27 percent jump in profits
Apple Computer continues to post impressive revenue reports. The company said that their fourth-quarter profit jumped 27 percent.
They have gained from back-to-school sales of Macintosh notebook computers and new versions of the iPod.
The company posted net income of $546 million, or 62 cents a share, up from $430 million, or 50 cents a share, a year earlier. The sales were up 32 percent, to $4.84 billion. Market analysts had expected them to post 51 cents a share on sales of $4.66 billion.
Apple Computer shipped 1.61 million Macs in the three months ended September. This is a record for the company. They had shipped around 1.24 million units in the same period last year.
The shipments of Apple iPod range of players were up to 8.73 million from 6.45 million in the year-ago period.
