Strategy Analytics reports record mobile phone shipments

Research firm Strategy Analytics said in a report that mobile phone shipments around the world are touching new heights.

The report said that Sony Ericsson has been the star performer in the third quarter and showed an improvement of around 22%.

The company is currently growing at an annual rate of 43 percent in terms of volumes.

The worldwide cellphone shipments reached a record high of 256 million units in the three months to September 30.

Nokia continues to lead the market while Motorola showed the second best improvement with sales gain of around 39%.

The volumes for Nokia were up by around 35%. They now have a market share of 34.5% compared to Motorola’s 21%.
