Intel to establish an IT education center in Gaza

US based tech giants Intel Corporation have announced their plans to establish a unit of their Intel Information Technology Center of Excellence in Gaza. This would become the anchor for a planned technology park in the region.

The company already has a massive presence in Israel and this is now being expanded to the Gaza district. This Intel Information Technology Center of Excellence will operate in conjunction with the Islamic University of Gaza.

This unit will train Palestinians in IT and would also stimulate the development of high-tech industry in an area where half the labor force is unemployed. Intel representative Chuck Mulloy said in a statement on these plans: “We don’t want to discount the tension in the area … but from our perspective, we view it as something that can have a positive impact”.

Market analysts believe that this initiative taken by Intel would encourage out business industries in the US to invest in the troublesome region.
