Deutsche Telekom might announce further job cuts

Deutsche Telekom AG (DT) has said in a statement that they cannot rule out announcing more job cuts in the future.

The company is undergoing a restructuring program that runs until 2008. And they might continue to cut jobs after this program is complete if the situation demands so.

Deutsche Telecom currently employs 167,000 workers in Germany alone and several news sources have claimed citing internal documents that the company will cut 23,000 jobs from 2008 until 2010, on top of the 32,000 cuts that are due to be completed by the end of 2008.

The company has been cutting more than 10,000 jobs a year in the last decade as it struggles to compete in the competitive market after its privatization.
