Hyundai to enhance small car production capabilities in India

South Korean automaker Hyundai has said that they are aiming to enhance production capabilities in India to cut costs. But they have no plans to shift their production lines outside the home market.

Hyundai would concentrate on developing higher end models in their domestic plants and would continue to manufacture cheaper models in overseas markets like china and India.

Market sources claim that the company would totally shift its production line of the Getz car to India and they would export this vehicle for other markets from here.

The company said in a statement: “We are considering the subject in a bid to lift competitiveness, although nothing has been decided yet. Even if we move ahead with the plan, we will not move a production line, but may adjust production volumes.”

Hyundai’s new plant in India is expected to start operations by October next year.
