Online retail spending to touch USD 100 billion this year

Market research firm ComScore Networks has said in a report that they expect online retail spending to top $100 billion this year for the first time.

This is just going to further establish the web as a force behind retail sales growth.

ComScore Networks said in its report that total online spending among consumers in 2006 is expected to reach $170 billion. This includes the spending on travel, and non-travel, or retail, sales.

Gian Fulgoni, chairman of ComScore Networks added in his statement: “The Web continues flexing its muscle as one of the important drivers of retail sales growth.”
