Sun Microsystems to acquire Aduva
Sun Microsystems has announced their decision to acquire Aduva. This is a small business entity, which specializes in automating the installation of software patches on large numbers of Solaris or Linux computers.
This acquisition is aimed at helping the company improve their remote management services. Sun wants to do so to make their computers more reliable and safer for corporate usage. It is also expected to help the consumers in the longer run as it lessens the burden of administration.
Sun Microsystems had acquired SevenSpace, a remote management specialist in 2004 with the similar aim. Aduva on the other hand is a small company with just around 40 employees. The two parties declined to reveal the financial details of this acquisition.
Sun Microsystems has been on a buying spree in the recent months to improve its services and products portfolio as it is struggling to compete in the competitive server market. They plan to sell Aduva’s technology as a product that customers can install and operate on their own or as an automated service on the Sun Grid.
