Motorola opens up a R&D center in Hyderabad India

US based tech giant and the world’s second largest makers of mobile phones Motorola has announced the launch of their research and development center in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad.

This R&D center would work on development of telecommunications software.

Motorola said that this unit would house over 1,000 engineers though the financial investment details were not revealed.

The company already has around six research and development centers in India and employs around 3,000 software engineers. Interestingly, Motorola workers in India design nearly 40% of the software used in Motorola phones worldwide.

Edward J. Zander, chairman and chief executive officer of Motorola said on their plans: “Software is a major driver of technology and our Hyderabad facility’s focus on software engineering addresses a key aspect of our global operations.”
