Bajaj Auto crosses sales figure of 2 million

The 2-wheeler auto giant in the Indian market, Bajaj Auto has reported that the company has managed to cross the two million vehicle sales mark this year. The company also has a dominating presence in the three-wheeler market in India.

Bajaj Auto is aiming to close the year with around 2.2 million units sold in the market. This is an impressive improvement when compared to last year’s sales figures of 1.6 million. Bajaj Auto said in a statement that the company has seen sales grew by 24 per cent year-on-year compared to market growth of 18.5 per cent.

Most of the sales improvement is due to high demand of Bajaj bikes especially their Pulsar and Discover model in the market, which have taken the initiative from rivals like Hero Honda and Honda.

The company also has plans to introduce new models in the ‘value segment’ followed by launch of four new products in both in the ungeared scooters and motorcycle category in 2006-07. Bajaj VP (Sales and Marketing) S Sridhar added in a statement: “With new products with innovative technology as the backbone and the new four-pronged retail network, we hope to maintain the same pace of growth in 2006-07.”
