New York Times customers get sponsorship from Royal Philips Electronics for their Times Select online opinion section

The New York Times Co. has reported that they are now going to offer free access to its Times Select online opinion section. This comes after they managed to get a sponsorship deal from Royal Philips Electronics.

This free service would enable them to get more customers hooked up to their otherwise charged for service.

As per incoming information, Philips will sponsor the free access starting on Monday, November 6, and run it through November 12. This is part of their national marketing campaign.

This section on the New York Times website includes articles and commentary by columnists such as David Brooks, Maureen Dowd and Frank Rich. It is aimed at generating more revenues from their online operations.
