Singapore based contract electronics manufacturer Flextronics has said in a statement that they are planning to invest $200 million in the first phase of setting up a manufacturing facility in Sriperumbudur.

The company is aiming to consolidate their Indian manufacturing operations at this unit.

The initial plan is to establish two units with a total space of 5,00,000 sq ft at the 250 acre Flextronics Industrial Park.

The first unit was inaugurated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. It would have the production capacity of a million handsets a month. They expect the second unit to be functional by next year.
