Reliance Retail aiming at sales of 1 Trillion Rupee Sales by 2011
Reliance Retail is one of the major retailing ventures targeting the Indian market and is backed by the India’s most valuable company.
They are targeting sales of an impressive 1 trillion rupees by 2011. The company plans to establish a series of nationwide chains selling all kind of retail goods.
Reliance is targeting to have 100 million square feet of retail space by 2011 and have plans to open stores in 784 cities and towns and 6,000 smaller towns by that year.
Their main rivals include local rivals such as Pantaloon Retail India Ltd. And they expect further competition from global companies including Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Carrefour SA.
Reliance Retail has already opened up 11 stores in Hyderabad and their next target is to open up units in Mumbai, New Delhi and Bangalore.
