Apollo Tyres enters health care business

Apollo Tyres Group is one of the dominating players in the tire market in India and the company has just announced that they are now planning to enter the health care business here in India.

Apollo has plans to establish a 500-bed hospital in Gurgaon with an investment of Rs 250 crore. This division would be handled by Artemis Health Sciences Pvt Ltd, the healthcare arm of Apollo Tyres. It would also make entries into various other fields like medical education, research, and manufacturing of medical accessories.

The hospital in Gurgaon would be known as Artemis Health Institute and it would be a multi-super-speciality facility with specializations in oncology, cardio-thoracic and musculo-skeletal diseases.

Apollo Tyres’ Chairman and Managing Director, Onkar S Kanwar said in a statement on this initiative: “The company would invest Rs 250 crore for the entire project, of which the phase I would be completed in the next 18 months with an investment of around Rs 145 crores.”
