Samsung looking at 10% growth in 2007 global handset market

South Korean tech giant Samsung is the world’s third-largest mobile phone maker and they are expecting that the global mobile handset market would grow by around 10% next year.

The company said that the Indian and Chinese market would lead this expansion. Samsung also raised its forecast for 2006 to 970 million from 950 million.

Lee Ki-tae, president of Samsung’s telecommunication network business said in a statement: “Global handset sales are now expected at 970 million, thanks to the BRICs (Brazil, Russia, India and China) market.”

Market analysts believe that Chinese market would pick up speed once next-generation mobile service begins there. India would do well on subscription growth and handset replacements.
