Dean Baquet quitting from Los Angeles Times
Los Angeles Times has said that its editor Dean Baquet is leaving the company. Dean Baquet had been opposing the group’s plan to lay off staff to cut costs.
Incoming news states that Baquet confirmed the news of his departure in an e-mail to editorial staff. The news for first reported on the Wall Street Journal.
As per the reports, he wrote: “Believe me, I didn’t want it to come out this way. Give me some time and I’ll talk to the entire newsroom later this afternoon.”
Jeffrey Johnson had left the company last month. He was the paper’s publisher. Market was surprised to see that Baquet did not submit his resignation at that time.
