Samsung to manufacture television sets in Chennai

South Korean tech giant Samsung has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government and they would be setting up two projects in the state.

These two projects are an SEZ unit and a domestic tariff area (DTA) unit and they would be investing around Rs. 450 crores in the state.

The company plans to invest around Rs 284 crore in their new manufacturing facility where they would make Color TVs, refrigerators, air conditioners and washing machines.

In addition, they would also set up an SEZ for the manufacture of computer hardware including monitors, LCD screens, printers etc. This unit would see an investment of around Rs 166 crore.
