Disney report impressive profits on impressive performance of Pirates of the Caribbean movie
Entertainment industry giant Disney has reported improvements in their fourth-quarter profit as they gained from impressive performance of their recent released movies like Pirates of the Caribbean and Cars.
The company’s net income doubled to $782 million from $379 million in the same period last year. Sales were up at $8.78 billion showing an improvement of around 14%.
The film division of the company on its own posted profit of $214 million. One of the major reasons behind this was massive success of their movie Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest which earned them more than USD 1 billion worldwide. The returns made it the third biggest movie ever after Titanic and Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
Cars was another movie which shone for the movie division of Disney. Disney acquired Pixar who made this animated movie.
