Ford sales in Europe up by 8% on the year
Ford Motor has said that their European operation has registered sales growth touching 8% on the year in October. The company is gaining from impressive sales of their S-MAX, small cars and commercial vehicles.
The company said that it sold 135,000 cars and light commercial vehicles in October. During the first ten months of the year, the company sold around 1,450,000 vehicles. This is an improvement of 2.3% compared to last year.
Ford credited this improved performance to their S-MAX model, which was launched in April. This car was also recently crowned European Car of the Year 2007 by a group of European motor magazines.
Ford sold around 6,200 S-MAX vehicles in October. The total sale since the launch has crossed more than 30,000 units. UK is the most exciting market for the European division of the company with sales growth of more than 11%.
