Motorola to acquire Netopia for $208 million
US based mobile phone maker Motorola has said that they are going to acquire Netopia Inc. for around $208 million in cash.
Netopia specializes in providing DSL gear and routing equipment to telecommunications companies and the deal would cost Motorola around USD 7 per share.
The company expects that this deal would help them boost product offerings to the IPTV market. It would also help Motorola to complete their video, voice and data portfolio.
Interestingly, this is the third such acquisition deal announced by Motorola in the recent times. Just recently, they revealed their decision to acquire Symbol Technologies and Good Technology.
Dan Moloney, president of Motorola’s connected home division spoke on this deal: “Motorola and Netopia share a common vision of the connected home as the hub for seamless mobility. This acquisition advances our vision by strengthening the connected home solutions business position as a leading supplier of technology and services to telecom providers worldwide.”
