Universal Music Group files a copyright lawsuit against MySpace.com
Universal Music Group is the world’s largest music company and they have just filed a copyright lawsuit against News Corp owned MySpace.com.
Universal is claiming that MySpace.com is infringing on their copyrights, as copies of their digital content is present on their user profiles.
This lawsuit was filed at the U.S. District Court Central District of California, Western Division. Interestingly, the lawsuit was filed just hours after MySpace.com stated in the media that they had launched an enhanced copyright protection tool to make it easier for content owners to remove unauthorized material.
Another interesting aspect of this lawsuit is that Universal just recently went into collaboration with Google owned YouTube.com, which gave them access to thousands of its own music videos.
