Hewlett Packard to keep the Mercury plant in Israel open

Personal computer maker Hewlett Packard has said that after the acquisition of Mercury Interactive, they would continue to run their research and development center in Israel.

This center in Israel would then become their largest such center in the world. HP acquired Mercury for about $4.5 billion in stock deal.

Thomas Hogan, senior vice president of HP Software’s technology solutions group added in a statement that the company decided to keep Mercury’s 700 employees that had worked in its offices in Yehud.

He added: “HP is committed to Israel. We have made a decision to continue and maintain operations in Yehud … The people based in Israel will be responsible for HP’s technology moving forward. The R&D center in Yehud will be our largest in the world. This operation is the best of the best.”
