Yahoo! working with seven newspaper groups to share online advertising
Internet giants Yahoo! has said that they would soon start working with as many as seven newspaper groups in the country to share online advertising. This might help the newspaper companies to get an entry into the more profitable online advertising.
News report claims that this could involve as many as 176 newspapers in 38 states. Some of these are Cox Newspapers Inc., Belo Corp., Hearst Corp., the E.W. Scripps Co., MediaNews Group Inc., Lee Enterprises and the Journal Register Co.
This collaboration with begin in December with Yahoo’s HotJobs service. After that, it would be expanded to include other Yahoo! services.
Leon Levitt, vice president for digital media for Cox Newspapers spoke on this new development: “Most local newspapers have done a pretty good job of generating local revenue into (their) sites. It’s so much harder to generate national revenue because a lot of advertisers don’t want to deal with 100 different newspapers. This will make it simple.”
