Agence France-Presse targeting Japanese Audience

Agence France-Presse is now aiming to expand their presence in the Japanese market. The media group has just collaborated with Japanese Internet group Softbank to launch an interactive Japanese-language website.

This web portal would offer and let users debate on global and domestic news through blogs and bulletin boards. This site would be updated 24 hours a day by a team of 25 Japanese-language journalists and would be using content and services from AFP’s pool of 2,000 reporters, photographers, editors, and graphic artists, which are present all around the world.

The site’s unique facilities are availability of blogs and BBS bulletin boards, which enables the interaction from the visitors and user’s point of view. Users would also be able to personalize the website to their liking. AFP Chairman and Chief Executive Pierre Louette said in a statement on this new project: “The originality of this project lies with the customers, the users of broadband, who will get the chance to offer comments and debate the news.”

The website would be totally free for the end user and would be supported by online advertisement modules. Check out: AFP-BB
