Dell to start manufacturing in India by next year
World’s largest maker of personal computers Dell is expected to begin manufacturing of its entire range of products in India by the first half of next year.
Dick Hunter, Vice President of Customer Experience and Support at Dell said in a statement that the company aims to manufacture all the products sold here in India itself.
The company is setting up their plant in the South Indian city of Chennai. As per available data, dell is investing close to around Rs 280 crores in their upcoming plant in Sriperumbudur. They are also investing another $150 million in its global customer care initiative during this fiscal. This investment is going to cover their operations in India amongst other countries.
Hopefully, this would enable the company to price their products competitively in the Indian market where a majority of the users still get their hardware from the open market.
