Alcatel sues Microsoft on patent infringement

France based networking giant Alcatel has sued the US based software company Microsoft claiming that they are infringing upon seven of its U.S. patents.

They have filed two suits with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. They are seeking an end to these infringements and are asking for treble damages, and payment of interest charges and legal costs.

One of these lawsuits is related to three patents: numbers 6339830, 6874090 and 6661799. The second lawsuit covers four patents: 6823390, 6112226, 5864682 and 5659539.

Interestingly, Microsoft is already facing lawsuits from Lucent Technologies, which is currently being acquired by Alcatel.
