Toshiba aims to garner 15% of the notebook market in India

Japanese consumer electronics maker Toshiba’s Toshiba Singapore division has said that they aim to become a major player in the notebook market in India.

The company aims to become the second-biggest seller of laptop computers in India by March 2007.

As of now, Lenovo and Hewlett Packard are the two leaders in the notebook market in India. Toshiba aims to capture a larger market share by doubling sales outlets to around 200 in the country.

Toshiba is also planning to spend about $1 million on television, print and billboard advertising. They are aiming to sell 150,000 laptops in the year to March. One of the main aims of the company is to make sure that the consumer knows that Toshiba is not really the more expensive option. They have products in India in price range between 30,990 to 170,000 rupees.
