Exports of cars from India rising
Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers has said in a report released to the media that the passenger car export from the Indian automobile market is on the rise. This segment saw a rise of 9% in the month of January 2006.
However, the report also mentioned that the leaders of automobile sector in India Maruti Udyog saw a massive drop in their export market as the company is working hard on fulfilling the demand from the domestic market.
The number of cars exported from India reached 13,132 units in January compared to 12,023 units in the corresponding period last year. Out of these, Maruti only exported around 1,514 compared to 3,153 vehicles in same month last year.
This rise was mainly due to the increasing exports by other players mainly Hyundai Motors, which is originally based in South Korea. Ford Motors India and Tata Motors also noticed an increase in their exports market.
