Essar Oil commissions production at their Vadinar based refinery
Essar Group has finally commissioned production at its Vadinar refinery located in the Gujarat state in India.
This project suffered massive delays due to environmental concerns and cost-over runs. Essar has invested as much as Rs 10,826 crore on this project.
The company said that the refinery would start its trial production with a capacity of 7.5 million tonne per annum of crude. It would be further expanded to 10.5 million tonne per annum. The refinery is expected to achieve full capacity production in the next two quarters.
A company official said on this development: “Essar has begun circulating cold crude in the Vadinar refinery to check systems and this would take at least a week’s time, after which the actual crude oil processing will start.”
Essar would be producing petrol and diesel suitable for use in India. They could also import the surplus to their international markets. They also plan to produce other petro products including LPG, naphtha, light diesel oil, aviation turbine fuel and kerosene.
